Growing as a leader is a lifelong journey. Over the next nine weeks I will share tangible ways you can become a better leader.  Each week I will share an excerpt from my ebook a Leader’s Guide to Building Relationships and Employee Engagement.   Each blog will start with sharing a concept that is proven to help you become a better leader.  Then you will be prompted to look inward and consider questions related to the topic.  Next, there is  a leadership action to practice.  After, you taken this action,  questions are provided to help you reflect on the impact and results. Finally, additional suggestions and resources are offered to to continue to foster your growth in this leadership practice.

Step 1: Know Thyself

Concept:   The best leaders are self-aware and know their values, strengths and areas to improve.

Ask Yourself:   What kind of leader am I?

Take Action:  Think of someone you consider an excellent leader.  List the traits, characteristics, and behaviors that made you think of this person.

Reflect:  In what ways am I modeling the leadership behaviors I listed? What can I do to further develop myself into the leader I want to be?

Next:  Take an assessment like Strengthfinders to better understand and leverage your strengths.

Thank you for coming along for this ride.  I hope to see you next week when we look at how learning to connect with others can help you become a better leader.
