A self proclaimed life-long learner, I am in the midst of a yoga teacher certification training course at You & the Mat. This past week I explored the concept of satya – truth, truthfulness, honesty – in our thoughts, feelings and words.  \n\nThe practice of satya focuses on carefully choosing our words so they do the least harm and the most good. This means avoiding lying, divisive talk, harsh speech and senseless chatter.\n\nBefore speaking, ask these questions:\n

    \n

  • Is it true?
  • \n

  • Is it necessary?
  • \n

  • Is it non-harming?
  • \n

\nBring awareness to your conversations, and observe if you are honoring yourself while considering others.\n\nLeaders that practice satya and speak with the intention of truthfulness will readily gain the trust of those they lead.\n\nphoto\n\n
