Here’s what I’ve found to be the best business plan:  Do Right. Many companies are discovering that corporate volunteer programs are a great way to increase employee engagement and retention while boosting the bottom line.\n\nThis past weekend nearly a dozen corporate partners including Disney, Pacific Life Insurance, Edwards Lifescience and Bank of America joined OneOC and nearly 500 employee volunteers to truly made a difference with a combined service project. \n\nIn partnership with the Oak View Collaborative, this project benefited 15 nonprofits that improve the lives of Oak View neighborhood.  Their mission is to narrow the cultural, social, educational, heath and economic gap between Oak View community and the remainder of Huntington Beach; and to serve as a model for community development. Types of projects included painting, organizing, garden renovations, soccer field and playground improvements, and more.\n\nCorporate volunteer programs lend purpose and meaning, are a tool for recruitment and retention and provide a platform for leadership and skill development.  Companies that connect their employees to nonprofits in the communities in which they work and live outperform those that do not.  They do well, by doing good.\n\n
