Community Senior Serv (CSS) an Orange County nonprofit dedicated to meeting the needs of older adults, engaged Janine McDonald in affiliation with OneOC to provide training for 130 employees including kitchen staff, case managers and executives. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for older adults and their families by creating a safety net of health, nutrition and supportive services designed to enhance their independence, well being and dignity.\n\nTo be successful on fulfilling their mission, CEO, Holly Hagler and her management team wanted to invest in training for everyone in the organization, regardless of title or role, to build more effective relationships and improve the quality of communication and teamwork in order to provide the highest level of service to their clients.  Workshops were held in both Spanish and English to serve the bilingual needs of the team.  Sheri Long, Amigos at Work, partnered with McDonald to present the program in Spanish.\n\nTo meet this objective, multiple session where held using the DiSC assessment tool as the foundation for learning. Participants were introduced to the DiSC Model,  discovered their style and learned about the style of others to increase their effectiveness as a team. DiSC helps teams identify individual approaches to teamwork, match individual strengths with team roles, reduce team stress and conflict, encourage team innovation and problem solving and increase productivity.\n\nDiSC also teaches managers how to bring out the best in each employee.  They learn how to read employee styles and adapt their styles to manage more effectively.  The sessions helped managers understand how to work more effectively in the areas of delegating and directing, motivating, developing others and working with their own manager.\n\n
