The Be Aware Foundation has engaged Janine McDonald through her affiliation with OneOC to lead and facilitate a strategic board retreat.  Be Aware is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving women’s lives by ensuring that breast cancer is diagnosed at its earliest stages.\n\nIt is estimated that 3 million women in the U.S. are living with breast cancer which is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S. for women  (excluding skin cancer).   Thankfully, with the help of organizations like Be Aware, there has been a downward trend of incidences of breast cancer starting in 2001.\n\nThe best defense against breast cancer is to engage in activities that increase the chance for early diagnosis.    Founded by Tanja Cebula and Dr. John West, the Be Aware Foundation is dedicated to saving lives by educating and inspiring women to follow early detection guidelines.\n\nTheir unique program has volunteer RN’s and breast cancer survivors deliver a compelling educational program in a “lunch and learn” format to all types of groups, businesses and agencies.   The program also includes email reminders to perform monthly breast exams, and annual clinical examsand mammograms.\n\nBe Aware also funds clinical research through partnership with Breastlink, fully integrated centers that are dedicated to providing the full continuum of care for individuals with breast cancer.
