Truly a miracle. Words can hardly describe what took place in Chile earlier this week as miners trapped for 70 days, buried more than a half mile underground safely reached the surface.\n\nAs I watched the Nightline special this week, I cried and I pondered the many lessons for humanity and the world.   Unlike the American response to Katriona or the recent gulf disaster, the Chilean government put out it’s arms to welcome the best ideas and thinking from all over the world – the result a solution that saved the lives of 33 men. This collaborative effort of resources from not only the US and NASA, but Canada, Germany and South Africa lead to innovative rescue solutions .\n\n“This is a moment that Chile and the rest of the world will never forget,” said the Chilean president, Sebastián Piñera. “Chilean engineers, rescuers and workers have shown what they are capable of.” There was cheers and tears as the last miner, Luis Urzua, the shift supervisor safely reached the surface.    Urzua, a real-life hero and leader who put his workers first and led the men during this  ordeal.\n\nThe sign held by the rescue workers read Misión Cumplida-Chile! As the world watched riveted, there was a collective sigh of relief followed by a burst of jubilation.\n\nFifth-Chilean-miner-emerg-006 (1)Chilean-miner-Florencio-A-008 (1)\n\nAPTOPIX Chile Mine Collapse
