NeuroLeadership InstituteWhat do you get when you bring the world’s top business thinkers and neuroscientists working together? An exciting new field of study called NeuroLeadership, a term coined by David Rock in 2006.    This week I attended an event for Women in Organizational Development where, Jennifer McCusker presented on this topic. Leadership Program for Nonprofit Executive Directors Launches

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

american-express-logoThe Volunteer Center of Orange is offering a new leadership development program called Leadership@Work for Executive Directors in the nonprofit sector facilitated by Janine McDonald.    A grant from American Express provided scholarships  for emerging leaders to attend the program.    In a time where resources continue to be tight, community leaders jumped at the chance for professional development that wasn’t going to hit their bottom line.

The foundational theories to transforming nonprofit leadership, are based on Jim Collins work in Good to Great: Social Sector.   Participants will attend 6 workshops as well as receive personal assessment and coaching as part of their experience.  An added benefit is the opportunity to interact with their peers to share best practices, problem solve common issues and expand their professional network.

The program is designed to help nonprofit leaders dramatically increase their organization’s ability to achieve challenging goals.   Participants will:

  • Create a visionary goal that represents progress toward organizational greatness.
  • Create a personal action plan that identifies new behaviors necessary to help the organization achieve its visionary goal.
  • Make measurable progress towards achieving the organization’s visionary goal.

Participating Organizations include:  Hands Together, Huntington’s Disease BrainStormers, Inc., International Bird Rescue Research Center, Corazon, Tustin Community Foundation, Vietnamese American Cancer Foundation, Huntington Beach Academy of Performing Arts, Someone Cares Soup Kitchen, Bethany’s Gait, Inc., Anaheim Interfaith Shelter/Halcyon, Achievement Institute of Scientific Studies, OC Human Relations, The Ecology Center.  http://www.volunteercenter.org/
