My weekly visit to the yoga studio is meant as a physical challenge and mental reprise from work.  Yet very often a comment by the yoga instructor will strike a cord and bring clarity to many of the workplace challenges my clients face.\n\nToday, as we were holding a prolonged pose, people were holding their breath, jaws were tighten, toes were gripping the mat and the instructor reminded us to find the balance between ease and effort.  In letting go, we can find more strength  – fighting against ourselves only brings greater resistance and limits our potential.\n\nSo it is in many organizations.  People pushing and striving to get tasks done, meet deadlines so they can move on to the next thing and the next.  All for what? A paycheck? A promotion? Are they satisfied? Fulfilled? Energized? Or on the verge of burn out?\n\nWhat if you relaxed your jaw, wiggled your toes and took a deep breath and found the balance between effort and ease at work.  You could be stronger and achieve even more of your potential if only you’d stop trying so hard.\n\n
