There are two kinds of people – those who do and those who don’t.  Which are you?  Maybe it’s not that simple, but when you study highly successful people you don’t find them binge watching Netflix. They are doing stuff.  They are learning. They are thinking. They are forming relationships. And you can bet, they are out hustling.

When I took that crazy leap 8 years ago and started my own business, I didn’t just sit around and wait for the phone to ring.  I hustled.  I designed a website, I volunteered with a professional group, I met with tons of people that knew me as a corporate executive and shared my vision of my business. But the most important thing I did was ask.

I asked what they needed and I listened.  Then I asked if I could help. I asked for other contacts. I asked for resources. The bottom line is you don’t get what you don’t ask for. And asking is part of the hustle.

Don’t let fear stall your hustle. I always ask myself, what’s the worst thing that can happen?  Someone doesn’t take a meeting? I read something I can’t apply (I seriously don’t think that has ever happened). I get rejected? So what, I move on.

Start that podcast, launch a business, travel, do Crossfit, ask that guy out – but whatever you do don’t just sit there.  Get off the couch and do stuff.

As ‘ol Abe reminds us, “Things may come to those that wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.”   What are you waiting for? Go hustle!
